The 2016 conference takes place in Brainport Eindhoven Region, the Netherlands. The region belongs to the European Delta Metropole; a corridor in Western Europe stretching from industrial cities in the northwest of England to the northern part of Italy, and includes densely populated, highly industrialised areas in the Benelux countries, France, Germany and Switzerland. It is the true heart of Europe with one of the world's highest concentrations of people (more than 100 million), money and industry.
Eindhoven has actually been a 'company town' for many years led by the main employer, Philips (founded in 1891). The industrial character has changed over recent decades but the region remains successful in high-tech systems, automotive, lifetech, food and design. Philips, currently active in the Health sector, has given rise to successful new companies, such as ASML and FEI Company, and has been a strong contributor to the current top technology region.
Brainport has received international recognition from, among others, the Intelligent Community Forum, Forbes and FDI Intelligence. Eindhoven is not only a convenient location for the conference but also offers plenty of entertainment and good regional and international connections.
The TCI 2016 Global Conference takes place in the Brainport Eindhoven Region. With a population of 750,000 and situated in the southeast of the country with Eindhoven and Helmond as main cities, Brainport Eindhoven is a very special region both economically and culturally. It is one of the three economic pillars of the Netherlands (together with Amsterdam and Rotterdam) thanks to its high-tech manufacturing sector and collaborative culture.
