Marjolijn de Haas

Marjolijn de Haas, has been an Ambassador for the Ministry of Economic Affairs to the region of South East Netherlands (North Brabant and Limburg) since 2012. It’s her mission to link national policy for economy and innovation, energy transition, agriculture and nature with the policies, agenda’s and developments in the region. The aim is to establish a mutual enhancement and synergy to benefit both the national and regional level. She’s a liaison between the Ministry of Economic Affairs in the Hague and it’s regional partners and networks. Regional economic clusters and triple helices are, apart from regional governors, key players in this cooperation.

Marjolijn has a career in the National government in different Ministries: Economic Affairs (EZ); Agriculture, Nature and Food (LNV); Environment, Planning and Housing (VROM). In Policy directorates, Staff directorates as well as Executive Agencies

Positions before 2012:

  • Deputy Director of the directorate Trade and Industry (LNV)
  • Deputy Director Human Resources and Internal Organisation (LNV)
  • Head in the department for Coastal Fisheries and Aquaculture (LNV)
  • Head of Operational ICT Auditing and policy evaluation (LNV)
  • Manager in the Netherlands Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority (nVWA)
  • Manager Governmental Building Agency (VROM)

International Experience

  • Member Monitoring Committee EU/ Interreg programme (EuregioMaasRijn)

  • Projects in the United Nations office (UNEP/UNDP) in Geneva


  • Masters degree at Wageningen University (graduated cum laude)
  • Pre-university education (Gymnasium) in Tilburg/Brabant
