The Sports & Technology (S&T) cluster is a network of companies, universities and Sport Field Labs, closely linked to the government. By sharing knowledge and experiences in an atmosphere of open innovation and co-creation, they come to (social and technological) innovations. Goals are diverse: an active healthy lifestyle for more people (societal goal) , sports performance enhancement (sport performance) and, at the same time, the creation of more business for companies (economic goal). The Sport Field Labs make it possible to develop and test new products, services, facilities and interventions in practice, close to the athletes and the sports.
During this Tour you will experience for yourself the important role that the Sport Field Labs play in innovation and business creation. At the moment, the cluster is challenged by the question how to make better use of ICT for (new) business. There are many possibilities to use ICT to support and accelerate, for example in the innovation process, in business development (like new business models) and in connecting with end users of sports innovation. This is a central focus of the cluster manager throughout this Tour.
Cluster manager René Wijlens will introduce the cluster and the cooperation between the many partners involved with all their different goals. He leads the group along three locations:
Cluster organisation: Sports & Technology
