Bertholt is a Director General at the Ministry of Economic Affairs, focussed on Enterprise and Innovation. He started his career for the national government in 2004 and held various management positions, amongst which were a period as deputy Secretary General and Director Economic Policies. From 2001 till 2006, Bertholt taught International Economics at the Master of International Finance School of the University of Amsterdam. Bertholt graduated from the Economic faculty of the Univeristy of Amsterdam, reading Macro-economics. He completed his Doctorate at the dutch Tinbergen Graduate School.
Bertholt complements his work at the Ministry of Economic Affairs with a position in the Advisory Board of the dutch TNO organisation, he performs a supervisory role in the STT foundation, which focuses on strategies in technology. He is also part of the Advisory Board for SME.
